Melon Mixer

Contributed by Edward Galvez

I like melons in small quantities, so having a whole melon every week is a bit overwhelming for me. However I love making drinks and juices. So I found a nice way to use the melons each week. This recipe is done to your taste, so it is up to you how much of each ingredient to add.  This recipe makes 4 servings and takes only about 10 minutes to make!

ingredients

1/2 melon
1/4 cup of water
1/2 lime or lemon, juiced (optional)
Simple syrup or sugar (optional)
Spices and herbs of choice (optional)

instructions

Remove the peel and seeds from the melon pulp and place the pulp in a blender or a cup, if using an immersion blender. Add a bit of water to the melon (not too much!) If this will be wine mixer, add wine or other mixer of choice. Strain: For a lovely melon flavor and texture, strain the fruit using a seive. If you like the pulp skip this step. Stir in lime juice and maybe a bit of simple syrup if you like it sweeter. Drink as-is, or add some wine or a spirit.

Variations:

Add mint or other herbs for more aromas

Add bitters

This mixer makes a wonderful wine cooler — use white or rosé.  Add some seltzer water for extra kick
