Farming is more than a full-time job, but somehow between a busy schedule of planting, weeding, harvesting, and farmers market schedules, we host folks at the farm to enjoy the fruits (and vegetables) of our labor and to take in the sites and sounds of the season.
Last Friday was our first pizza night of the year, which was a really lovely evening of good food and good company. And good music – two bands! It also served as a launch party for Hannah’s book, Designing with Dried Flowers, and several special guests came up to celebrate. What started as a small event a few years ago, has grown immensely— we served over 450 pizzas in three hours, along with tasty salads, juices, and ice cream!
The Full Belly Farm community is wide and diverse and the Pizza Night crowd was too. It was quite the cross-section of folks who joined us: first-timers and regulars; locals and those coming from further away; former interns; fellow farmers market vendors; some of our wholesale customers (shoutouts to Faria Bakery and Spork); CSA members; family from near and far (including – parents, siblings, aunts, and uncles), and more.
Events like these are a labor of love; it requires a lot of work to pull them off and this was no exception. A big thanks to the main kitchen team and Alexa for all their planning and preparation work. And a big thanks to everyone who manned a pizza oven, stretched dough, added toppings, cut pizzas, portioned out salads, and more to make sure that everyone was fed and happy. We have a few photos and videos to document the evening but you’ll just have to come up yourself to really see what it’s all about.
Thanks to Saeko, Alexa, and Hannah for the photos and videos! You can follow us on Instagram for more fun farm photos and videos. And tag us in your photos; not just events, but also your CSA boxes and flowers and what you’re cooking!
